M0VKG APRS Station

M0VKG normally runs UI-View32 in RX-only mode, gateing APRS packets to the internet. However, when the station is attended, it can be run as a digipeater.

The APRS station currently only has a connection to the APRS-IS, with no RF port. This is due to the PacComm Tiny 2 TNC that I had on loan crapping out last week. I'm trying to source a replacement - if you have one you'd like to sell, please do let me know.

You can send a number of commands to the station. These will only be available by radio when the station is attended, but should be available normally via APRS-IS:-

  • ?VER? - returns details of the version of software in use
  • ?DX - returns the furthest station heard by radio
  • ?APRSD - returns a list of stations heard by radio
  • ?APRSS - returns the current status text
  • ?APRST - returns the route that the query took to arrive
  • ?APRSP - returns the location beacon
  • ?APRSH <CALLSIGN> - returns information on when <CALLSIGN> was last heard

There are also a number of custom commands you can run:-

  • ?SSN - returns the current sunspot number
  • ?RPT repeater - returns details from ukrepeaters.net for repeater
  • ?QS station - returns details from DB0ANF on when station was last heard, and its last status message
